Catherine Woo
Merinda Park

T Projects worked with the South Eastern Program Alliance, to deliver the integrated art commission for Merinda Park Station. Working closely with the design team and City of Casey Council, T Projects developed the brief; sourced a long list of potential artists; led the arts assessment and procurement processes and assisted the shortlisted artists throughout concept design delivery.

Created by artist, Catherine Woo, the artwork pays homage to the Cranbourne wetlands and will provide a luminescent entryway to the new Merinda Park Station. The commission spreads across the ceilings of the station entrances, with rippling patterns that reflect the area’s ecological history. The artwork has been designed to respond to the movement and changing viewpoint of pedestrians and rail passengers who use the new station at Merinda Park. Rings ripple out from the station’s entrance columns to create the impression of glistening water rippling on the surface of the wetlands that were part of the site’s original landscape.
